Nailah Blackman

Biography

Nailah Blackman, the 21 year old songstress has taken the Caribbean by storm in two short years!

The multi-talented singer grew up in South Trinidad where music and a love for her culture flowed through her veins from even before she was born. Born into a musical family, the granddaughter of the legendary Ras Shorty I, creator of Soca music, and the daughter of Abbi Blackman, musician, actress and designer, Nailah has always been destined for greatness.

Nailah Blackman made her name with her first ever official release, the hit song Workout, a collaboration with Kes Dieffenthaller that was released for the Trinidad Carnival (February) 2017 season.

Since then, Nailah quickly took over the Soca and Caribbean music scene, with the support of her producer, Anson Soverall, consistently releasing hits and working with some of the biggest artists from Shenseea to Ding Dong Ravers and legends such as Taurus Riley. Her unique sound has attracted artists all over the world from Africa, to Asia and Sweden, working with Salvatore Ganache.

Miss Blackman is more than just an artist, with an eye for innovation and creativity, she is always thinking of new ways to add value to the entertainment world.

Her first successful event was Sokah Origins, which she launched in December 2017 for her 20th birthday, since then she has also thrown LahLahLand, an event catered to the families and the children of Trinidad & Tobago. She just successfully concluded the second installment of Sokah Origins: Iron Love.
In 2018, Nailah was nominated for the best new international act BET viewers choice award and has over 50 million views collectively on YouTube not counting other musical platforms.

She won Groovy Soca of the Year Female with Baila Mami at the International Soca Awards in St. Lucia.
She was nominated for Best New Soca Artist and the Best Collaboration at the Your View Awards in Jamaica.
She won the Best New Crossover Act at the TTCO Awards in Trinidad & Tobago and her song “Sokah” was chosen by NJAC as one of the top 20 Calypsos of the year.

Nailah was presented with a Cultural Ambassador Award from the New York Sentate during 2018 Labour Day Celebrations in New York.

Having achieved such tremendous success and progress in only two years, there’s no telling where the young firecracker will go in the years to come!

2019 already promises to be a fantastic year, with bookings confirmed all the way to September in Japan for the Japan Soca Weekend.

Remember the name because Nailah Blackman is here to stay!
